What do the circles on the map represent?

Each monitoring station is given a code according to the type and location of the station. The first two letters indicate whether a site is a mass emission station (ME) or a major outfall station (MO). Mass Emission stations are located on the mainstem of the receiving water in each of the three major watersheds. Major Outfall stations are located on representative outfalls for each city. The remaining letters indicate location (e.g. ME-CC is a mass emission station on Calleguas Creek).
